Do Something Great!

great works that glorify God

Part 6 – Be Equipped to do Great Things

1. Clarify Your Vision

The activities and programs of ATI are available to help you get a clearer vision of, and equip you for, the great things God wants to accomplish in and through your life. If there is a lack of vision, you will not understand the significance of the opportunities that are available to you as an ATI student. You will also begin to wonder what God’s will is for you and will lack the purpose and drive that constitute a truly dynamic life focused upon Jesus Christ.

2. Concentrate on Faith, Wisdom, and Character

The first step to increase your faith as a believer is to learn how to meditate on God’s Word day and night. A memorization and meditation tool is now available to help you accomplish this vital goal.

The Wisdom Booklets are also designed to integrate academic knowledge around the teachings of Jesus, so that you will be able to see life with God’s presuppositions rather than man’s humanistic thinking.

A person who has great intelligence and skills, but lacks character, will never achieve the purposes for which God created him. A variety of training programs has been designed to not only teach skills, but to develop essential character as well.

3. Conduct Ongoing Discipleship

God often uses believers in His great work of bringing sinners to repentance, freeing them from their prisons of bondage, and motivating them to full maturity in Christ. As you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, the greatest thing you can do for others is to lead them to Christ and disciple them. If desired, effective tools are available to further equip you in this ongoing process of discipleship.

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” —Isaiah 6:8

4. Cultivate a Proper Perspective

Rather than focus on academic degrees, our primary focus should be upon the faithful and obedient accomplishment of God’s will as we allow the power of the Holy Spirit to work in us and through us. However, there is something to be said about receiving proper academic recognition for the training, disciplines, and ministry that you accomplish. We are grateful for a working relationship with academic institutions that are willing to grant college and graduate-level credit when learning is properly documented.

5. Commit Your Life to a Great Work

The call of Jesus to a great work is a call to take up your cross, die to personal desires, and follow Him to a fruitful death that will accomplish something eternally significant. A great goal gives direction for decisions, meaning to every day of your life, and courage to stand against those who oppose God’s ways. You will have something worth living for—because you have something worth dying for.

Doing something great does not happen with a part-time commitment or a few years of effort. It demands your entire life and all the strength and resources that God gives you. What great thing will you attempt for God?
